The Mbo Skills & Entrepreneurship Development Plan is officially set to commence operations, marking the beginning of a bold journey toward empowering youth and women in Mbo Local Government Area.
Conceived under the Mbo Arise Project, this initiative is designed to equip residents with the skills, resources, and networks required to start, grow, and sustain thriving businesses. With the renovation of the Skills Acquisition Centre nearing completion, the facility will soon open its doors as the hub for training, mentorship, and enterprise support.
Speaking on the upcoming launch, Hon. Sunday Okon Etim (JP), Executive Chairman of Mbo LGA, reaffirmed the council’s commitment:
“This project is more than just a program. It is a legacy for the people of Mbo — one that will create jobs, empower entrepreneurs, and transform our community for generations to come.”
The program is built on four key pillars: skills training, entrepreneurship development, digital inclusion, and financial access. Over the next 12 months, more than 1,000 youth and women are expected to receive training, 500 MSMEs will be formalized, and 1,500 jobs created and sustained.
This is just the beginning of a long-term vision to make Mbo a hub of entrepreneurial excellence in Akwa Ibom State and beyond.
